Monte Carlo’s Haute Cuisine

Monte Carlo is located in the Principality of Monaco between France and Italy along the very famous shore of the Mediterranean known as the French Riviera. The very location invokes images of exclusive villas, luxury hideaways and secluded beaches reserved for the aristocracy of Europe for generations. Monte Carlo has also been a bastion of dignified European-style gambling since the late nineteenth century.

Dining in Monte Carlo

Dining in Monte Carlo is no cheap affair. Gamblers to this luxury destination will not typically find the fried seafood buffets indicative to the Atlantic City, New Jersey shore region, nor the inexpensive and abundant buffets that have been traditional in Las Vegas.

Instead, Monte Carlo and its handful of elegant casinos is associated with fine dining experiences.

Louis XV

The Louis XV might not even deserve the term “restaurant” attached to its world-famous name. Located in the Hotel de Paris in the heart of Monte Carlo, the hotel itself is synonymous with wealth, prestige and royalty. The Louis XV is one of the most gracious, luxurious and highly rated dining experiences in the world.

Overseen by chef Alain Ducasse, Louis XV is classic French cooking in a historic French interior. The freshest fish from the Mediterranean and the best seasonal local vegetables contribute to the menu’s ingredients.

Le Grill

Also located within the Hotel de Paris, Le Grill specializes in all manner of grilled selections, especially local fish and seafood. The restaurant is popular for its views of the Monte Carlo bay.

La Coupole

Located within the Hotel Mirabeau in Monte Carlo, La Coupole’s menu is less formal than either Louis XV or Le Grill. Suited more for a contemporary palate, the menu is certainly Mediterranean, but with modern interpretations.

Bar and Boeuf

Another Alain Ducasse restaurant in Monte Carlo, the Bar and Boeuf is a “concept” restaurant of Ducasse’s. Open seasonally, this dining experience is designed specifically around selections of beef and sea bass punctuated with the finest European wines.

La Vigie

Being situated alongside the Mediterranean, Monte Carlo would be remiss in not offering a fine seafood restaurant. La Vigie’s menu is notably weighted to appeal to those seeking freshly grilled lobster and local fish. The open-air dining dictates seasonal hours.
