Wolfgang Puck in Las Vegas
Wolfgang Puck has spent the last couple of decades building his name brand. His name is an indication of quality and innovation in food design.
About Wolfgang Puck
Wolfgang Puck was born in Austria. During his early culinary days he learned traditional French cooking under the guidance of a number of renowned chefs throughout Europe. Among the kitchens he trained in were those in the Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo. When Wolfgang Puck relocated to the United States, he settled in Los Angeles where he quickly refined his French culinary repertoire to include American and California influences. In 1982, he and a colleague opened Spago in Hollywood. Spago became synonymous with celebrity and wealth.
Spago, Caesar’s Palace
Spago opened in Caesar’s Palace in 1992, a rendition of the signature restaurant in Hollywood. There are a number of main dining rooms and smaller private dining rooms. For a lighter menu, there is plaza seating just outside the restaurant and adjacent to the casino. The more casual patio menu features Puck’s signature rustic-styled brick oven pizzas and light pasta dishes, along with fresh salad creations.
Within Spago, the dinner menu is punctuated with grilled fish, fowl, accompaniments of herbed butters, pasta dishes of risotto and hand-made ravioli.
Postrio, The Venetian Hotel, Resort and Casino
Opened in 1999, Postrio is modeled on its twin in San Francisco. Semi formal dining rooms are decorated in rich traditional Venetian hues. Postrio’s menu is billed as New American. The menu is nicely appointed with an assortment of grilled, poached, seared and encrusted seafood and fish choices. The restaurant advertises an extensive wine selection. Appetizers of oysters, fresh soups, salads of mixed arugulas and radicchios average $8.00. Entrees range in price from $25.00 to $50.00.
Chinois, Caesar’s Palace
Chinois bills itself as “Chinese Fusion.” The contemporary Asian inspired décor sports lots of subdued light and candles. There is also a sushi bar. The menu features classic crab Rangoon and dim sum style steamed dumplings. A house specialty is a whole fried catfish, that is best shared.
Lupo, Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino
Lupo is distinctly Italian. The menu changes frequently but mainstays are Puck’s signature wood fired pizzas, polentas and traditional handmade pastas, all prepared with a modern slant. Lupo sports a spectacular wine cellar.
